Have you ever wanted to play guitar like the greats? While it’s easy to pass off their amazing guitar skills as pure talent alone, it’s more important to examine that massive amount of smart work that went into mastering those guitar skills. For every Slash and Eric Clapton, there are hundreds of wannabe guitarists wondering just how they could make it there, and without the right combination of inspiration and learning skills, it’s easy to think that you could end up along with them. Don’t worry, learning guitar isn’t something that has to suck up a lot of your time, nor does it need to be a hobby that you grow to dislike. By shedding the conventional learning styles and focusing on acquiring the most important and vital skills, you can fast-track your guitar progress and be out there playing your favourite songs and solos in no time at all.

It all comes down to mastering the most important techniques. While many guitar schools and courses focus on the less important skills; mastering kids songs and practicing scale after scale, very few actually put the most important skills in any real practical context. Instead of practicing mindless children’s songs that you can’t stand listening to, the best way to master guitar is by playing and mastering the music that you love to listen to.

That’s right, learning guitar doesn’t have to be about mastering nursery rhymes and ‘Smoke on the Water.’ Ask any experienced guitarist what part of learning they think is most important and they’ll tell you to simply focus on doing what you enjoy. All the essential skills of guitar, the scale learning, the playing positions, and the hand dexterity, they all extend from mastering the songs of your favourite artists and guitarists.

Ready to kick-start your guitar progress? Skipping past the basics requires quite a lot of dedication and a determination to master what’s truly important. This free report, packed full of information on mastering the most fundamental and versatile guitar techniques, is the perfect resource for beginners looking to master guitar in a style that suits them.

So don’t despair — learning guitar doesn’t have to be something that feels like homework. When you focus on the aspects of guitar that you already love, you can boost your dedication and fast-track your learning progress. Using the knowledge and information within this free report, you can get the guitar skills that you dream of without the endless hours of monotonous practice.

Have you ever picked up your guitar, hoping to play like the greats, and run out of motivation to continue? Almost every major guitarist had the same feeling, but instead of packing their guitar away and discontinuing their experience, they found a playing and learning style that worked for them. The major problem facing newbie guitarist isn’t a lack of willpower, it’s a lack of suitable learning style. While most guitar classes fail to cover the basics, and instead focus on the flashy and non-substantial, they leave newbie guitarists sitting wondering where they’ve gone wrong and how they can improve their abilities.

Don’t worry; your guitar experience doesn’t need to end because you can’t find a suitable teacher. Instead of focusing on teacher orientated education, you’re best to look for student orientated education. Thanks to the technical advances made possible by the internet, you can easily get a perfect guitar education online, without having to visit any guitar teachers or sit through any unnecessary guitar education.

What if instead of focusing on techniques that aren’t very useful and songs that you don’t enjoy, your guitar education could focus on learning songs that you love and mastering techniques that you’ll use every day? While most guitar programs focus on the trivial and boring, mastering songs that only five year olds enjoy and quickly bore guitarists, the new opportunities of internet learning make it possible to master songs from your favourite artists as quickly or slowly as you would like.

Want to get started? This free report is packed full of guitar information, ranging from how-to guides to important technical explanations of the most important and fundamental guitar techniques. If you’ve ever been stuck wondering where to go with your guitar learning, this report is a must read.

Click Here To Download Your Free Perfect Guitar Solos Report

By focusing on the fundamentals of guitar acquisition; the scales, modal shapes, and master techniques, you can transform your guitar skills from allowing you to play that most basic and boring songs to allowing you to master songs from your favourite artists and guitarists. Don’t worry, learning guitar doesn’t have to be a task, and by applying the principles and advice from this free report, you can speed up your guitar progress and learn the songs that you want in the style that you’re comfortable with.

How to select a guitar teacher for your child

Here are some tips for parents to evaluate potential teachers, understand your role in your child’s lessons, and to help find a qualified teacher.

So you’ve decided to seek out a qualified guitar instructor for your child. Where to start? Well, some choices are to use search engines, phone books, local music stores, and local schools and colleges to find a teacher near you. The challenge, however, is to find someone who is both well qualified and enjoys teaching children. How do you know if a teacher is well qualified you ask? Good question. There is no governing board for private guitar teachers that specifies a specific education or certification requirement, so you have to inquire about your teacher’s background yourself.

Some considerations when selecting a guitar teacher for your child should include the following:

1) Does the teacher feel that your child should learn to read notes, learn musical terms, and music theory? They should. I think there’s nothing wrong with a teacher showing some things by rote or using alternate notation methods occasionally such as tablature to keep a child’s interest, but the focus should be on learning standard notation. There’s no replacement for notation when it comes to laying the foundation for complete musical understanding. The exception would be very young students being taught in the Suzuki method, where the student is taught by rote initially with standard musical notion being brought in later.

2) Does the teacher’s own background illustrate that they have training in these areas? It’s a safe bet that teachers with music degrees specifically in guitar are qualified in this area. It’s harder to evaluate teachers without degree’s in these areas, but this does not disqualify them, just as a degree does not automatically qualify a teacher. Having a degree simply makes it more likely that they will have the necessary knowledge to effectively teach your child. You must ask them about their experience and evaluate their abilities first hand to see that they are knowledgeable. This can be tough to evaluate if you have no musical training, so tread carefully as there are many people that market themselves as guitar teachers that are not very good in these areas. Don’t get fooled by marketing. Evaluate their resume and experience. For example: A local teacher that plays in the local church’s worship band may be a fine guitar player for that style and a nice person, but that doesn’t necessarily qualify them as a guitar teacher for your child. They may know little of music theory, note reading, or other styles of music.

3) Do you want your child to learn classical guitar? If so, then you need a classical guitarist, period. This is a very specific field of study that requires extensive and specific training. Don’t trust someone that says they teach classical guitar that does not have a degree in classical guitar from a reputable institution. Classical guitarists are often proficient in and teach many popular styles as well, but really are the only ones to go to when it comes to learning classical guitar.

4) What if I want my child to be a rock/pop guitar player or singer-songwriter, do they really need to know all of this stuff? Yes, you should still encourage note reading! There’s no way it’s going to hurt someone’s development. The idea that formal music training might stifle creative development is something as a guitarist I’ve heard before but believe is a misguided notion coming from the guitar being part of our popular culture, often being taught by rote, and compounded by the existence of talented and successful singer-songwriters that have little formal music education. This can give people the impression that note reading is simply not necessary. The truth is that note reading will help your child better facilitate the writing process, but also prepare them for a broader musical life that may include teaching, studio playing, composing, transcribing, ect. Would the Beatles have been as good without the help of their classically trained composer/producer George Martin? I don’t think so and neither does the famous guitarist Jeff Beck. You’re paying top dollar for guitar lessons for your child, so why limit their musical future?

5) Should the teacher be a top level performer? Not necessarily. I believe they should be able to play at a high level though, which is usually the case with guitarist that have performance degrees. You want to make sure that a teacher has been able to translate their own understanding of the guitar into their playing. However, some people just enjoy teaching more than performing and therefore have a more extensive resume in teaching than performing. This is a good thing, as they may still be very high caliber players that simply love to teach. Also, some top level performers may not be around often enough to give lessons consistently, which is especially important for children.

6) Is it ok for you to sit in on the lessons? It should be, and for children’s lessons some sitting in by the parents should be encouraged. You’re going to have to supervise your child’s practice at least some throughout the week if you want them to make good progress. You’ll need to pay attention to the important reminders your teacher gives during the lessons so that they can be reinforced during the week. Remember, it’s the work you and your child do during the week that has the biggest impact on your child’s success. If you sit in on lessons, make sure to let your teacher do their job and not interrupt too much. Occasionally, I’ve had parents who have completely lost patience with their child during the lesson. Though they were only trying to help, they ended up completely ruining the supportive atmosphere of the lesson and consequently the child’s enjoyment. It’s a pretty awkward situation being the teacher in that situation to say the least, and it’s counterproductive to your child’s success. A child needs to feel that it’s ok to make some mistakes while they’re learning, otherwise they’ll give up quickly. So, let your teacher do their job but pay attention to their tips, and you may even want to try playing some of the studies so you can help your child at home.

Where to find a teacher that satisfies this criteria:

Music stores

While local music stores are often a good place to find a qualified teacher, they’re not without their pitfalls. Some pros: convenient, as they carry the supplies you’ll need and usually have a wide variety of teachers from which to choose. Cons: some teachers may have little to no teaching experience, you’ll often pay the same fee for any of the teachers regardless of their credentials and experience, store’s often have registration/sign up fees to help pay their bills, fees may also rise more often so that the store can stay in business, they may force you to use substitute teachers if your teacher is out sick or out of town, and there’s always the possibility that the store may suddenly go out of business leaving you scrambling to find a new teacher.

So let’s say you’ve chosen to inquire about guitar lessons at your local music store. You should ask the management/owner about the different teacher’s backgrounds and which teacher does the best with children. Assuming you feel comfortable with their suggestion, it is advisable that you wait, if necessary, for an opening with that teacher if their schedule is full rather than starting with someone else. Starting with an unsuitable teacher may give your child a bad initial impression of lessons and could ruin their enthusiasm for learning the instrument forever. As stated, music stores usually have some excellent teachers, but they also often have people with little to no teaching experience as well. You have to keep in mind that their main mission is to keep their studios full so that they can stay in business. It’s possible that they may suggest a teacher that is not nearly as qualified or child friendly if the best suited teacher for your child is full. Remember, it’s your child so it’s your choice who teaches them. Don’t lower your standards for convenience. (I don’t want to sound like I’m bashing music stores as I’ve taught at many of them. These opinions are based on my own experience with them over the years)

Other sources

Private music “schools or academies”. These are usually just private businesses like music stores and have the same potential plusses and minuses except they usually don’t sell instruments. The term school or academy should not denote more credibility as they are not any better or worse a source for teachers than music stores.

Recommendations from public schools and colleges are another good option for finding well qualified teachers who teach privately.

Phone books and internet searches, including music teacher databases can also be good sources for finding local teachers.

Recommendations from friends can be helpful as well, but make sure to do your own research on the teacher. It’s worth the extra effort.

Summary

The important thing is to look at your teacher’s resume and interview them. You may find a highly qualified teacher in your own neighborhood that charges the same or less than a less qualified teacher at a local music store. Many qualified teachers prefer teaching at home as it eliminates the high studio rent they have to pay at the music stores, eliminates their travel, eliminates the risk of losing their job if the store where they teach goes out of business, and allows them to make their own schedule.

Another important point is that you may need to try a month or so with a teacher to see if they are right for you. Unless the teacher is just awful, you may not get a good idea of their abilities in a single lesson. Keep these tips in mind and you should be able to find an excellent, long term guitar teacher for your child.

Poetry, Spoken Word, Rapping, Singing, Rock & Roll, and Country are just a few forms used as a catalyst for rhyming. The art of rapping could also be categorized as the art of rhyming. How a rapper rhymes is an important part of the song being crowned successes not only that but rhymes are an important part of the song period. They assist in helping us to remember the song.

It is said listeners of popular music have been unconsciously trained to expect rhymes in certain places of a song. That’s insane right? That’s not even the ticker. It’s said that if the artist doesn’t rhyme in the anticipated part of the song, the listener usually things there is something wrong with the song.

The way you rhyme
-Helps hold the listeners attention
-Should make the lyrics easy to remember
-Keeps the anticipated listener satisfied

It’s hard to come up with rhymes and still keeping the meaning of the song. Most of the time, the meaning of the song is way more important than the rhyme itself.

Some artist will try to add or force a rhyme in a line trying to enforce the rhyme instead of the meaning. This can cause your rhyme to have no meaning or make no sense.

Example 1. We pull up on the set
Sittin low rim spinin
Leanin out the window
Countin money while I’m chillin

The most effective rhymes always seem to be the most effortless. Biggie Smalls had an effortless rhyme style. You almost can always rewrite a line or end a line with a rhyme and still capture the meaning without losing it altogether.

Example 2. We pull up on the set
Sittin low, 20 inches
Leaning out the window
Stack money, get riches

In other words you can replace a word too hard to find a rhyme for, with a easier rhyming word and still not change the particular meaning that you’re trying to portray in the song.

Hope these tips help you understand the art of rhyming a little more today than you did yesterday.

              The founding years

The name “Grass Roots” originated in 1965 as the name of a band project by the Los Angeles, California songwriter and producer duo of P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri. Sloan and Barri had written several songs in an attempt by their record company, Dunhill Records to cash in on the budding folk rock movement. One of these songs was “Where Were You When I Needed You,” which was recorded by Sloan and Barri and a now forgotten line-up of studio musicians. Sloan provided the lead vocals and played guitar. The song was released under “The Grass Roots” name and sent, as a demo, to several radio stations of the San Francisco Bay area.

When moderate interest in this new band arose, Sloan and Barri went to look for a group that could incorporate The Grass Roots name. They found one in a San Francisco group named “The Bedouins” and cut a new version with that band’s lead vocalist, Willie Fulton. In 1965, the Grass Roots got their first official airplay on Southern California radio stations, such as KGB(AM) in San Diego and KHJ in Los Angeles with a version of the Bob Dylan song, “Mr. Jones (Ballad Of A Thin Man)”. For some months, The Bedouins were the first “real” Grass Roots but the partnership with Sloan and Barri broke up when the band demanded more space for their own more blues rock-oriented material (which their producers were not willing to give them). Willie Fulton, Denny Ellis, and David Stensen went back to San Francisco, with drummer Joel Larson the only one who remained (he was to become a member of a later Grass Roots line-up, as well). In the meantime, the second version of “Where Were You When I Needed You” peaked in the top 40 in mid-1966; an album of the same name sold poorly, probably because there were no Grass Roots anymore to promote it at the time of its release.

The years of success

The group’s third and by far most successful incarnation was finally found in a Los Angeles band, called The 13th Floor (not to be confused with the 13th Floor Elevators). This band consisted of Creed Bratton, Rick Coonce, Warren Entner, and Kenny Fukomoto and had formed only a year earlier before submitting a demo tape to Dunhill Records. Rob Grill was recruited into the band when Fukomoto was suddenly drafted into the army. The band was offered the choice to go with their own name or choose to adopt a name that had already been heard of nationwide.

As The Grass Roots, they had their first top 10 hit in the summer of 1967 with “Let’s Live For Today” (an English cover of “Piangi con me”, a 1966 hit for the Italian quartet The Rokes). With Rob Grill as lead singer, they recorded a third version of “Where Were You When I Needed You.” The band continued in a similar hit-making vein for the next five years (19671972). In the beginning, they were one of many U.S. guitar pop/rock bands, but with the help of Barri and their other producers, they developed a unique sound for which they drew as heavily on British beat as on soul music, rhythm and blues and folk rock. Many of their recordings featured a brass section, which was a novelty in those days among American rock bands, with groups like Chicago just developing.

The Grass Roots songs hitting the radio in these times include “Let’s Live For Today” and “Things I Should Have Said” (1967); “Midnight Confessions” (1968); “Bella Linda”, “Lovin’ Things”, “The River Is Wide”, “Wait A Million Years”, and “Heaven Knows” (1969); “Walking Through The Country”, “Baby Hold On”, and “Temptation Eyes” (1971); “Sooner Or Later” (1971); and “Two Divided By Love” (1971). The bulk of the band’s material continued to be written by Dunhill Records staff (not only Sloan and Barri). The Grass Roots also recorded songs written by the group’s musicians, which appeared on their albums and the B-sides of many hit singles. The most successful of their hit singles were “Let’s Live For Today” (U.S. #8) in 1967, “Midnight Confessions” (U.S. #5, their biggest hit) in 1968, “Wait A Million Years” (U.S. #15) in 1969, “Temptation Eyes” (U.S. #15) in 1971, “Sooner Or Later” (U.S. #9) in 1971, and “Two Divided By Love” (U.S. #16) in 1971.

In 1969, Creed Bratton left and was replaced by Dennis Provisor on keyboards and vocals, plus rotating lead guitarists Terry Furlong and Brian Naughton to form a quintet the first of many line-up changes that the band was to be subject to. In 1971, Rick Coonce, Terry Furlong, Brian Naughton, and Dennis Provisor left and were replaced by Reed Kailing, Virgil Weber and original member Joel Larson. The singer/songwriter/guitarist duo of Warren Entner (later a successful heavy metal manager with groups such as Rage Against the Machine and Quiet Riot) and Rob Grill remained the point of focus in all these years.

The final years

From 1970 on, success slipped away slowly but surely. The Grass Roots had their last top 10 hit with “Sooner Or Later” in June, 1971, and success with “Two Divided By Love” not long after. Their final two hits in 1972 were “The Runway” and “Glory Bound”. Follow-up singles sold disappointingly or failed to chart altogether – it was clear that their time was over. The 1976 single “Out In The Open” became their swan song, with the band having disbanded the previous autumn.

Rob Grill remained in the music business and launched a solo career in 1979 (assisted on his solo album by several members of Fleetwood Mac). When interest in bands of the 1960s began to rise again in the 1980s, Grill reformed The Grass Roots (now as “The Grass Roots Starring Rob Grill”) and tours the United States. He continues to lead the band into the new millennium and is the voice of The Grass Roots, playing many live performances up to the present day.

In 1982, The Grass Roots performed an Independence Day concert on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., attracting a large crowd. However, in April 1983, James G. Watt, President Ronald Reagan’s Secretary of the Interior, banned Independence Day concerts on the Mall by such groups. Watt said that “rock bands” that had performed on the Mall on Independence Day in 1981 and 1982 had encouraged drug use and alcoholism and had attracted the “the wrong element”, who would mug people and families attending any similar events in the future. During the ensuing uproar, Rob Grill stated that he felt “highly insulted” by Watt’s remarks, which he called “nothing but un-American”.

In 2006, former manager Marty Angelo published a book entitled, Once Life Matters: A New Beginning which has numerous stories about his life on the road with Rob Grill and The Grass Roots back in the early 1970s.

Since 2005, Creed Bratton can be seen as “Creed Bratton”, Quality Assurance Officer, in the American NBC television situation comedy The Office. He continues to write songs and has released several solo albums, including Chasin’ the Ball, The ’80s, Coarsegold, and Creed Bratton.

The name Grass Roots was used sporadically by Arthur Lee of Love, in the Los Angeles area. Dunhill Records secured the legal use of the name by releasing a record, which Lee never did.

The song “Let’s Live For Today” has the identical Italian melody and virtually the same arrangement that was used in an earlier song called “Be Mine Again”; although this song includes the “One, Two, Three, Four” and “Sha-La-La-La-La” as in The Grass Roots hit, the lyrics are otherwise different. The version by the Dutch band The Skope that was released in 1966 is included on the Pebbles, Volume 15 LP.

The band was seen in the Doris Day film With Six You Get Eggroll. They play the song “Feelings” at a crowded dance party.

The Grass Roots have appeared on over 50 national television shows including, The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Ed Sullivan, Andy Williams, Sonny & Cher, Good Morning America, VH1 Hit-Makers, MTV, and a record sixteen times on Dick Clark American Bandstand.

The 1975 Self Titled LP is seen in the film FM. The back cover appears in a long DJ broadcast room scene with characters played by Cleavon Little and Martin Mull.

The band is mentioned by John Candy’s character in the film Uncle Buck. He comments about the music while navigating a teenage party looking for his missing niece.

Guitarist Creed Bratton plays a character also named Creed Bratton, a fictional version of himself, in the US version of the television show The Office. In a scene that never aired from the episode “Booze Cruise”, Bratton’s boss, Michael, borrowed the guitar from a cruise ship’s band and poorly plays a version of “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple. Bratton then takes the guitar from Michael and proceeds to surprise the rest of the passengers with his excellent playing. The scene then cuts to a confessional, where Bratton talks of his time with The Grass Roots, complete with pictures of the actual band and references to actual tours. In another deleted scene from the episode “Product Recall”, a fictional Scranton Times writer notices Bratton was a member of The Grass Roots. He also sang one of his own songs titled “Spinnin’ N Reelin’” in the episode “A Benihana Christmas”.

The band was mentioned frequently on the nationally syndicated Don and Mike radio show. Don Geronimo sat in with the band several times at performances in the Washington DC area.

The Grass Roots version of the Bob Dylan song, “Ballad Of A Thin Man”, was featured in the 1987 Robin Williams film Good Morning, Vietnam.

The Grass Roots song “Midnight Confessions” was featured in the 1997 film Jackie Brown.

The Grass Roots song “Let’s Live For Today” was used in a 2008 TV commercial to promote the Volkswagen Routan.

Songwriters On A Mission Guest Writer

Since the advent of the Internet, people who share interests and hobbies have been able to network and exchange information easier than ever before. While there are, and have been, plenty of people who are into ukuleles, finding a way to connect with other enthusiasts was a bit difficult in the past. One of the easiest ways to connect, however, is over a ukulele forum. These online message boards enable users to carry on conversations and, best of all, those conversations are archived so that the information communicated is not lost.

The Ukulele Underground is one of the most popular forums on the Internet. It contains extensive information about buying ukuleles, getting started playing them as well as information that is more geared toward experienced, even professional, players. This forum is generally very lively. Those who come from other instruments will find other individuals who share the same history on this, and other, forums. There are also contacts, song tablatures and other information freely available on this site. Like most online forums, a membership is required to make posts or to reply to them, though one is not required to view most of the information on the page.

The Flea Market Music Bulletin Board is another popular ukulele forum. There are numerous topics to view on the pages included on this site. Like the Ukulele Underground, there are posts here that will appeal to both beginners and professionals. There are also long, ongoing conversations that offer significant depth regarding the topics discussed. Songwriting, performance, instrument modifications and other aspects of owning and playing a ukulele are widely-discussed on this forum. There is also a marketplace on this forum where ukulele enthusiasts can buy and sell items. Essentially, the flea market reference is entirely appropriate, as this site is good for finding bargains and having fun.

The Uke is yet another leading ukulele forum. The posts on this site are extensive where beginner information is concerned. There are also sound files—MP3s, mostly—of ukulele performances. Like the other forums, there is good information offered by experienced players to those who are just getting started. The Uke, like the other forums, requires a membership for visitors to post or reply, though most of the posts can be read by anyone who happens by the site. Sheet music and other resources are available at this site.

No matter which ukulele forum one chooses, make sure to read the posts and to get the feel of the site and, if it seems wrong, look elsewhere. The memberships to these sites are free, in the vast majority of cases, so there’s really no risk in signing up for a forum account and reading some posts and even replying, if one is so inclined. At the very least, a beginner can get good tips, some sheet music and tablature and some advice on how to play that music from some experienced hands. Like most other groups, ukulele players have made good use of the Internet.

EasyUkulele.com is your one stop resource to learning how to play the ukulele. At EasyUkulele.com you are able to both listen and watch lessons on playing the ukulele as well as find expert advice from Kainoa Louis on manufacturers, tips on playing, chords, music and more.
Article Source Hope you enjoyed our Guest Writer’s contribution today

Songwriters On A Mission Guest Writer

Robert Leroy Johnson who was born on May 8, 1911 and died on August 16, 1938 was a famous musician of the American blues genre, and is counted among the most famous of all the musicians of the Delta blues category. His compositions have been a testimony to a remarkable and exquisite combination of guitar skills, singing, and talent for songwriting that have widely influenced multiple generations of talented musicians.

However, not much is known about the life of Robert Leroy Johnson who died at an early age. Robert Leroy Johnson was popularly known as Skip James Deep Dark Delta Blues Man.

In his early days, Skip James would typically play for small tips on the corners of the street or in the front of a restaurant or a local barber shop. Skip James exactly played what the audience wanted him to and not essentially original compositions, and certainly not blues music.

With the God gifted ability of picking up any kind of tune just by hearing once, Johnson would have no problem at all in giving the audiences exactly what they demanded to hear.

At music recording session, held in November, 1936 in San Antonio, which the Brunswick Records had turned into a studio that was temporary, Johnson would typically perform facing the entire wall.

Among all the compositions Johnson had recorded while in San Antonio were “I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom” , “Kind Hearted Woman Blues”, “Come On In My Kitchen”, and “Cross Road Blues”. The “Come on in My Kitchen” song included the famous lines: “The woman I love took from my best friend/some joker got lucky, stole her back again/you better come on in my kitchen, it’s going to be rainin’ outdoors.”

In “Cross Road Blues,” which happened to be another of his masterpiece, he sang: “I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees/I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees/I asked the Lord above, have mercy, save poor Bob if you please/Uumb, standing at the crossroads I tried to flag a ride/Standing at the crossroads I tried to flag a ride/Ain’t nobody seem to know me, everybody pass me by.”

At least 6 of Johnson’s blues category songs had a mention of the devil incarnate or a certain form of the eerie and the supernatural.

Johnson died at an early age of 27 and with him went away a great deal of promise and talent. He had almost singlehandedly made popular the Blues genre of songs. He had this unconventional streak about himself when many of his masterpieces had a mention of the supernatural and the eerie and these songs would repeatedly mention of the devil and the Satan. Johnson was a trendsetter in the truest sense.
